Ridge and hip caps take the most sun and wind of anything on the roof, and they are often the first part to crack, lift or blow off. We remove the damaged run, check the ridge vent underneath, and replace the caps with matching high-profile ridge shingles, nailed and hand-sealed. Three-tab shingles cut up and used as caps, common on older Dallas roofs, are replaced with proper caps, which hold much better in the next gusty front. The ridge vent is replaced if it is cracked.
