Quick answer
Penfold Construction replaces and repairs roofs across Midway Hollow and neighboring Bluffview from its service office on Mockingbird Lane. About three-quarters of homes here are owner-occupied; roughly half are original one-story 1950s cottages and the rest are newer two-story homes. The October 2019 EF3 tornado began near this part of northwest Dallas, and we check edges, decking and gutters after every storm.
Midway Hollow
Two kinds of house on one street
Midway Hollow filled in with single-story homes in the early 1950s, and by the 1960s it held about 2,600 houses with no apartments inside the neighborhood. Since the early 2000s, teardowns have replaced many originals, so roughly half of today's homes are the original 1950s cottages and the rest are two-story builds. About 86 percent of homes are detached and 75 percent are owner-occupied.
The two kinds of house need different roofs. Original cottages often have their third roof over old decking and too little attic ventilation; new builds have larger, steeper roofs with long valleys. We price decking and ventilation on the cottages and pay closest attention to valleys and flashing on the new ones.
