Quick answer

Penfold Construction repairs and replaces roofs across Lake Highlands from its Dallas service office. The neighborhood mixes single-family subdivisions with large apartment communities, so we roof both. Storms are the main reason we are called: the October 2019 EF3 tornado crossed northeast Dallas toward Richland College, and the largest hail of April 27, 2026 fell across northeast Dallas.

Lake Highlands

Dozens of subdivisions, one storm path

Lake Highlands is a collection of dozens of subdivisions in northeast Dallas, held together mostly by Richardson ISD schools. It is home to about 99,000 people, and its housing is mixed: roughly 30 percent detached single-family houses and a large share of apartments, with a median build year of 1979. Old Lake Highlands, on the northeast side of White Rock Lake, is older, with a median build year of 1960 and mostly owner-occupied homes.

On October 20, 2019, the EF3 tornado that started near Love Field continued through northeast Dallas toward Richland College and into Richardson, severely damaging a Home Depot on Forest Lane along the way. Wind damage like that starts at roof edges, which is where our wind repairs start too.

Storm record

Hail, and the apartments around it

On April 27, 2026, the National Weather Service reported the day's largest hail, up to teacup size, in northeast Dallas. After a storm like that, single-family owners need a documented inspection, and apartment owners need every building surveyed at once. We roof apartment and townhome communities building by building, so residents keep their homes dry while the work moves through the property.
