JEA HVAC rebates in 2026: what Jacksonville homes can claim

The equipment rebate, the thermostat add-on, the tune-up rebate, the efficiency rules behind them, and the dates that decide whether you qualify.

Quick answer

What HVAC rebates does JEA offer in Jacksonville in 2026?

In its 2025-26 program year JEA paid $200 on ENERGY STAR certified central ACs, heat pumps and ductless mini splits for residential electric customers, plus $50 for a smart thermostat installed with the system, and it rebated tune ups on existing systems. That year covered installs through September 30, 2026, with applications due by October 10, 2026; JEA sets the amounts and deadlines for each new program year.

The equipment rebate

JEA's residential program pays $200 on ENERGY STAR certified central air conditioners, heat pumps and ductless mini split systems. It's open to JEA residential electric customers only, and it's limited to two rebates per product type at the same address every seven years.

The equipment has to meet JEA's efficiency minimums. For replacements that means at least 16 SEER2, and heat pumps also need 8.0 HSPF2. The work must be done by a JEA pre-qualified contractor for the replacement program, which is worth confirming before you sign a contract.

Why the AHRI certificate matters

The rating that counts isn't the one on the outdoor unit's sticker. It's the matched-system rating on the AHRI certificate, which covers the specific outdoor unit, indoor coil or air handler, and sometimes the furnace together. A condenser advertised as up to 16 SEER2 can rate lower once it's paired with an older or mismatched indoor coil.

That's why replacing only the outdoor unit can cost you the rebate. When the indoor and outdoor units are replaced as a matched set and the certificate lists both, the numbers on paper and the equipment in your yard agree, and the application goes through.

The thermostat and tune-up rebates

A smart thermostat installed at the same time as a qualifying system adds $50. On its own, a thermostat swap doesn't qualify under this piece of the program, so timing it with the new system matters.

JEA also rebates HVAC tune ups on existing systems. The application goes in within 90 days of the service, so keep the invoice showing what was done. A spring tune up that catches a weak capacitor before summer can pay for itself twice.

The dates that decide it

JEA runs its residential rebates by program year. The 2025-26 year covered equipment and services purchased and installed between October 1, 2025 and September 30, 2026, with applications due within 90 days of purchase and no later than October 10, 2026. Each new program year can change the amounts, the efficiency minimums and the deadlines, so check the current terms before relying on any figure for a new purchase.

In practice the safest path is to have your contractor confirm eligibility before installation and file the paperwork right after. We do that on every qualifying install.

Smart thermostat installed with a new system

A worked example

Say your 2008 system fails and you replace it with a matched 16 SEER2 heat pump and air handler, plus a smart thermostat, in March. If you're a JEA residential electric customer and the AHRI certificate confirms the ratings, the equipment rebate is $200 and the thermostat adds $50. The application goes in within 90 days of the purchase.

If, instead, only the outdoor unit were replaced and the old coil kept, the matched rating might fall below the minimum and the $200 could be lost. The paperwork is the difference, which is why it's worth confirming before the install rather than after.

Commercial customers

Businesses have a separate JEA rebate program for commercial equipment with its own rules, including pre-approval for most measures. The residential rebates on this page don't apply to commercial accounts. If you're replacing a rooftop unit or a split system at a business, ask about the commercial program specifically.

What the rebate doesn't cover

The federal Section 25C tax credit ended on December 31, 2025, so there's no federal credit to stack with the JEA rebate on a 2026 install. Florida has no state income tax credit for HVAC either. The JEA rebate is the incentive that applies.

The rebate is also not a reason to buy the wrong system. A correctly sized 16 SEER2 system that qualifies is a good outcome. An oversized system that happens to qualify will still leave the house humid, and the $200 won't fix that.

FAQ

Questions readers ask

Who qualifies for JEA HVAC rebates?

JEA residential electric customers installing qualifying ENERGY STAR equipment through the program.

How much is the JEA rebate for a heat pump?

$200 for a qualifying ENERGY STAR heat pump meeting JEA's SEER2 and HSPF2 minimums.

Can I get the rebate if I only replace the outdoor unit?

Often not, because the matched AHRI rating with an older coil may fall short of the minimum.

When is the deadline?

Applications go in within 90 days of purchase; the 2025-26 year closed for applications on October 10, 2026, and JEA sets each new year's dates.

Is there a rebate for tune ups?

Yes, JEA rebates tune ups on existing systems, filed within 90 days of service.

Can I combine it with a federal credit?

No federal credit applies in 2026; Section 25C expired at the end of 2025.

Do I need to keep any paperwork?

Keep the itemized invoice and the AHRI certificate for the installed system; the application relies on them.
