AC repair and replacement in Mandarin

Mandarin is home ground: our service office is here, and so are thousands of 1970s and 1980s houses on their second or third system.

Quick answer

Who repairs air conditioning in Mandarin, Jacksonville?

Preston Reeves Heating & Air repairs and replaces AC, heat pumps and ductwork in Mandarin, dispatched from its service office on Sunbeam Center Drive. Call (904) 447-0914 any hour and a dispatcher books the next open technician.

From orange groves to suburbs

Mandarin, about 15 miles south of downtown on the east bank of the St. Johns River, was named for the mandarin orange and stayed largely rural until the 1960s. It joined Jacksonville in the 1968 consolidation, and the 1971 opening of the Buckman Bridge brought the suburban Mandarin most people know today. Harriet Beecher Stowe once wintered here on a 30-acre riverfront site; now the same streets hold neighborhoods whose original systems have long since been replaced, often more than once.

On the ground

Second and third systems on original ducts

A lot of Mandarin homes went up in the decades after the Buckman Bridge opened, which means the equipment in the yard is rarely the first, but the ducts in the attic often are. When a replacement comes up here, we test the duct system before quoting, because a new variable speed unit on tired, leaky ducts never delivers what it should.

Closer to the river, live oaks shade the houses and keep the air damp, so humidity control matters as much as cooling. Being minutes from our own office also means short drives for routine maintenance and faster arrivals when something fails on a July afternoon.

FAQ

Mandarin questions

Is your service office close to Mandarin?

Yes. Our service office is on Sunbeam Center Drive, so Mandarin calls are among the shortest drives we make.

Should I replace the ducts when I replace my Mandarin AC?

Only if testing shows they can't carry the airflow or leak badly. We measure static pressure and inspect the attic before recommending it.

Do you service homes along San Jose Boulevard and the river?

Yes, along with the neighborhoods off Loretto, Greenland and Old St. Augustine Road.
